oidentd uses the Autotools build system. This makes it easy to configure and compile oidentd on different platforms.
Compiling the Source Code
It only takes a few minutes to compile oidentd from source.
- Ensure that all build dependencies are installed.
- Install any optional dependencies you would like to use.
./autogen.shto generate a
./configureto configure the build. See
./configure --helpfor available options.
maketo compile oidentd. This should compile oidentd to

oidentd can be built with the following programs to enable additional features:
NAT support is
enabled, oidentd can be built with
libnetfilter_conntrackto obtain connection tracking information without using the
/procfilesystem. Some distributions also require a separate development version of this package to be installed. This feature is most useful on systems where connection tracking information is not available from
./configurescript emits a warning if
libnetfilter_conntracksupport is not included, but this warning is safe to ignore on systems where
/proc/net/nf_conntrackis present. It is also possible to invoke
--disable-libnfctif a build without
